Carpenter Oak

I started working at Carpenter Oak LTD as a trainee in late 2024, with very basic carpentry knowledge and skills. Since starting, I have been surrounded by some of the best carpenters, who have taught me the ways of the wood.

This never-ending journey of learning has given me great confidence in my work and skills as a carpenter.

One of my favourite things about the job is that each build is different from the last, even though almost all cuts are the same. I have been able to learn, through hands-on experience, the construction process, starting from a plan to the final outcome. This is an incredibly satisfying process.

One of my favourite projects I have been able to work on was the September 11 Memorial Garden, Grosvenor Square, remedial job. It was an incredibly meaningful job for those whose families were affected, and meant the memorial would last that much longer.

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is not."- Henry van dyke

This quote was etched in stone at the center of the memorial and has been a great reminder to me of the impermanence of life.
